The Team

In late 2022, the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK), in cooperation with the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), put together a task force to revive WCUS., In February 2023, WCUS will host a congress to officially revive the organization and solidify the key actions that young Ukrainians will take to promote a free and prosperous Ukraine around the world.

Chair

Roman Grod

From 2017 to 2021 Roman Grod served on the Board of Directors at the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK) as the Alumni Director & Treasurer (2017-2019) and then as President (2019-2021. SUSK is the umbrella organization uniting and advocating on behalf of all Ukrainian Student Organizations in Canada.

Professionally, Roman is the Manager of Energy Market Operations Canada for Rodan Energy, a leading North American provider of DER asset optimization, demand response, energy intelligence and metering solutions.

Roman actively contributes to the Ukrainian community and was recognized as one of the top 30 under 30 in the diaspora in 2021, was awarded the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Youth Leadership Award in 2022 and bestowed the Lieutenant Governor′s Community Volunteer Award in 2016.

Roman looks to continue engaging and uniting the Ukrainian community globally, through the revival of WCUS, an organization with 100 years of history in promoting a free and prosperous Ukraine.

Vice Chair

Danya Pankiw

Danya is in her second term as National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK). Previously, Danya served a term as the Internal Director, where she was able to revive 5 Ukrainian Student Clubs in Canada and work to strengthen the relationship between various Ukrainian youth organizations in Canada. SUSK is the largest Ukrainian student organization outside of Ukraine and has played a vital role in advocating for Ukraine and its culture and language, and giving Ukrainian students in Canada a voice.

Danya is a young leader in the Ukrainian Canadian community who has a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University. She is now a science teacher in Toronto.

Danya was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where she grew up within the Ukrainian Canadian diaspora and has been actively involved in community organizations including PLAST.
