WHO WE ARE

Founded during the 3rd All-Ukrainian Student Congress in Prague in July 1922, the World Congress of Ukrainian Students was formed to organize Ukrainian students around the world to promote Ukrainian culture and language, and make a meaningful difference in communities worldwide. During 1922-1923, WCUS united over 4,500 students and 18 organizations.

In the late 1920s and early 1930s, a three-tiered structure of student organizations was created, which facilitated the work of WCUS on a global, regional, and local level.

In 1967, WCUS started organizing World Congresses, which took place with the participation of regional organizations and was able to successfully bring together a large group in New York (1967), Montreal (1970), Toronto (1973 and 1977), and Philadelphia (1976).

In 1994, WCUS fell inactive and we believe that now more than ever, on the 100th anniversary and to support the Ukrainian people as they defend against Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine, it is vital that we lay strong roots in our diaspora and unite Ukrainians around the world.
